Established ownership of intellectual assets, arriving at acceptable frameworks for fair and equitable sharing of benefits for social goods and providing harmonized legal structures to encourage continuous follow of innovations are necessities to fuel a vibrant global economy. As technology becomes the key driver in the knowledge led universe and impact societal dynamics, intellectual property right take a center stage in the evaluation of techno-societies. Keeping in view the importance of intellectual property rights and their projection, we are going to publish next thematic issue on IPR. This special issue addresses the theme of whether intellectual property (IP) acts as help or as a hindrance to innovation and the commercialization of new knowledge. This is a timely topic and one that elicits much debate, since it is likely to have far-reaching implications. Aims/ objectives: The aims of this special issue are to provide a forum for the presentation of these and related issues in IPR, to describe the implications for innovation and the commercialization of new knowledge, and to provide policy guidelines for helping to resolve some of the contentious issues.
