Dear All Central Library, IIT Bombay is organizing a 3-days Workshop on “Meeting Users Expectations” from 27 - 29 May 2013. Academic and Research Libraries India have been operating in ICT-enabled environment for more than a decade now and providing access to a large number of electronic journals, books and data-bases to their users. While there is a general perception that the provision and accessibility of electronic resources have helped the end-users in their academic and research endeavours, no efforts have been made to assess whether web-based resources and services have actually helped them. This workshop, therefore, aims to bring together all the stake-holders, i.e. Users, Librarians, and Publishers/database producers, to get a holistic view of the impact these services have made / will make on their work as well as on their use of library and information services, and will identify the areas for future improvements. The outcome of this workshop is expected to help the participants in planning and developing a strategy / road-map for futuristic library services. The final day of workshop is planned to provide hands-on training on KOHA, an open source library management software. The workshop is limited to 60 participants. Registration is free for participants from INDEST-AICTE Consortium member institutions. However, they have to pay Rs 1500/- per person towards accommodation. Registration Fee Rs 2500/- per person for participants from Industry and R&D Institutes (Rs 4000/-, if accommodation is needed). Registration fee includes workshop kit, lunch,tea-coffee, snacks during workshop days. Accommodation will be provided in Guest House / Hostels on first-come-first-served basis and only for those participants who have sent their advance payment.
