Dear Mr. Jena, INFLIBNET , an IUC under UGC has shared two highly popular online anti-plagiarism tools- *Turnitin and iThenticate*- free of cost with a number of Indian Universities. Both are equally good. But my experience say that iThenticate is easier to use. You need to perform a bit of environment setting and create new folders to upload theses/research papers. Similarity index is produced after the submitted text is evaluated against the database embedded in the anti-plagiarism software. Each University keeps certain threshold percentage of similarity index for rejecting a doctoral thesis. In my University, it is 10% for results/conclusion/summary. for the rest of part, it has been kept at 20%. The Central library administer the anti-plagiarism check and issue a certificate (other signatories are the scholar and the supervisor) which is inserted in the Thesis as an essential document. However, documents in humanities as well as produced in Hindi/other regional languages are not evaluated by these web tools. With regards, Dr. T. Dear Friends, We are thinking to subscribe an anti plagiarism software for our institution. A proposal has been received from "turnitin". But before that i required the below mentioned information. Kindly share. 1. What are the other commercial anti plagiarism sofrwares available in india? 2. Any govt. academic institutions subscribing such software? 3. Which would be the better option? 4. Feedback if you are using such software? 5. Anything else related to this you want to share? regards, R. K. JenaAsstt.
