About the Conference
Libraries are undergoing a fundamental transformation from conventional repositories of printed documents into dynamic, technology-enabled knowledge and research ecosystems. Rapid developments in electronic resources, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, big data, blockchain, Internet of Things, virtual and augmented reality, digital preservation, semantic technologies and automation are redefining the way information is created, organised, accessed, evaluated, shared and preserved.
In the AI Era, the libraries face significant challenges. The exponential growth of digital information, increasing subscription costs, copyright and licensing restrictions, misinformation, plagiarism, predatory publishing, cybersecurity threats, unethical research and publishing practices, digital inequalities and the rapid emergence of generative AI require libraries to reconsider their traditional models of operation and service delivery.
The Single E-Resource Consortium for the Entire Country, that is, One Nation One Subscription (ONOS), the expansion of the National Digital Library of India (NDLI), open-access initiatives, institutional repositories and national research infrastructure further emphasise the need for libraries to re-engineer their services and technological infrastructure.
In this context, the International Conference on Re-engineering and Transforming Libraries: E-Resources, Emerging Technologies and IT Applications (ICRTL-2027) is proposed as a multidisciplinary platform for academics, librarians, information professionals, documentalists, researchers, technologists, policymakers, publishers and knowledge-resource providers to deliberate on the emerging directions of libraries and information services. The conference also seeks to harness the synergistic potential between academic, research and public libraries. By integrating research-driven resources with inclusive community access, it aims to promote sustainable social development and strengthen excellence in Indian education system.
Objectives of the Conference
The major objectives of the conference are to:
1. Examine emerging trends in the transformation of academic, public and special libraries.
2. Explore innovative applications of Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI in libraries.
3. Discuss issues in acquisition, management, evaluation and preservation of e-resources.
4. Examine the impact of emerging IT applications on library operations and services.
5. Promote innovative models of digital library and knowledge-resource management.
6. Explore the implications of Consortia Access, ONOS, NDLI and open-access initiatives for higher education and research.
7. Identify emerging professional, research and innovation competencies required for future librarians.
8. Address ethical, legal, copyright, privacy and cybersecurity issues in digital libraries.
9. Encourage collaboration among libraries, universities, research institutions, technology organisations and professional associations.
10. Develop recommendations for sustainable, inclusive, intelligent and user-centred libraries and documentation centres.
