Foundation stone laid for Modern State Library complex in Chennai.

 

The eight-storied library to be constructed at a cost of Rs 120 crore will have a plinth area of 3,33,140 sq.ft. It will have a reading capacity for 1,200 persons and a stacking capacity of 11.5 lakh books. A conference hall with a capacity of 200 persons and a mini conference hall to accommodate 30 persons will be part of the library.

 

The library complex will include an auditorium with a capacity of 1,280 persons and an amphitheatre with a plinth area of 42,630 sq.ft. The construction will be over by April 2010.
