Respected Members', Dr. W. Boyd Rayward , Professor, Graduate School of Library & Information Science,University of Illinois (United States) is the 23rd receipient of the Award.The International Award Committee of the Kaula Endowment for Library & Information Science has selected Dr. W. Boyd Rayword for the International Prof Kaula Gold Medal and Citation. Prof. Kaula Endowment for Library and Information Science was formed on 13th March,1975, at the 51st Birthday of the world-renowned library educator, bibliographer,library and information scientist, UNESCO Expert & professional journalist of overfive decades, Prof. P.N. Kaula, with Guntur(Andhra Pradesh)as its headquarter. TheEndowment decided to award International Kaula Gold Medal & Citation to a topranking professional who was distinguished himself as a library & informationscientist or educator in library & information science.This Award is given away every year from 1975 onwards.There are 22 distinguished reciepients of the Award from 11 countries & some international organisations. The International Award is named after Prof. Kaula who has been described as the "Apostle" of the world famous Indian Library Science Genious Dr. S.R. Ranganathan. Widely travelled, Prof. Kaula has served UNESCO Expert in UNESCO Regional Centre in Western Hemisphere for Latin American Countries(1967-68) & has been a legendry figure & has received several national & international awards including " Pro-MundiBeneficio" Medal from Brazil, "Deutsche Bucheref" Medal from Germany & "Padmshree"(2004), a top civilian honour from the Government of India & which Dr. Ranganathan himself received in 1957.
