The Chairman of UGC Ved Prakash is full of praise for private higher educational institutions in a function organized by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Recent comments in Jaipur by Ravi Shankar Guruji of Art of Living fame on government schools as breeding ground for naxalism can also be seen as larger conspiracy to help private players to make big bucks and avoid poor of this country to enter into a education system. It is note worthy that private institutions were largely responsible for selling fake M Phil and Ph. D certificates in Tamil Nadu and across the country. Private education institutions would not open their shop for poor rural people they open shops for rich of this society. Recent Chethan Bagat's Revolution 20-20 is best example how an disgusted IIT aspirant (who failed to enter IITs) become chairman of an engineering college and making money out of it. Whole book in a way portray how our education system is weakening because large number of private players entering to this field. Now UGC chairman who had a brief stint at the world bank before coming to the UGC office batting for the private players. It is no surprise our government is in a urge to open our educational system for foreign players. Globalization the big shark is swallowing our culture, our identity in the name of competition, efficiency, and quality (traits of market economy). competition, efficiency, and quality. are the mantra of private players, government is chanting their mantra to escape from the basic constitutional right. Because it has promised to the World Bank that soon India would open its educational system, agriculture, retail market (big malls are every where in India) for you to make money. It is already too late, UGC chairman, Swamijis all are now trying to build a consensus for government to act swiftly to help them.
