*Hundred Years of LIS Education and Library Services in South Asia: Perceptions and Directions* *XXXI **IATLIS NATIONAL CONFERENCE 2015* 20-21 November 2015 Hosted by Panjab University, Chandigarh *and* Jointly organized by *Indian Association of Teachers of Library and Information Science (IATLIS)* and *Panjab University, Chandigarh* *IATLIS*: Indian Association of Teachers of Library and Information Science (IATLIS) is a professional association of more than 600 teachers and professionals in Library and Information Science in India. Since its inception in 1969, IATLIS has been active in taking up several issues of LIS Education in India especially relating to the development of curriculum, teaching methods, infrastructure, teacher training, etc. It actively works for the promotion of the professional interests of LIS teachers. As part of its activities, it conducts national seminars, workshops, and training programmes. It publishes its conference volumes and electronic journal IATLIS Journal of Library education and Research. To celebrate the 100 years of starting of modern librarianship and library science training in 1915 in Punjab (at the University of Punjab, Lahore), this year the annual IATLIS conference is being held at Panjab University, Chandigarh *Panjab University, Chandigarh* Since its inception in 1882 at Lahore (now in Pakistan), the magnificent background of the Panjab University has been the source of inspiration to the present generation of faculty and students to achieve and stand out in their academic endeavors in science and technology, humanities, social sciences, performing arts and sports. The University supports excellence and innovation in academic programmes, promotes excellence in research, scholarship and teaching and is committed to attracting and supporting the best students and recruiting faculty who excel at teaching and research. For more than a century, it has served various societal needs with distinction. By virtue of its age, experience, achievements and philosophy, the Panjab University is a University of national character and stature, in so far as it has drawn both its faculty and students from all over the country and abroad. The papers should be based on research surveys, case studies or action plans. Papers should not normally exceed 5,000 words or 16 double-spaced pages, besides tables, diagrams, etc. Also, each paper should contain an abstract, up to ten keywords, body of the paper, conclusion and references. The abstract should state in about 150 words the sum and substance of the paper. The conclusion should include the recommendations made in the paper. The keywords which describe the main issues discussed, and should be given in alphabetical order. The paper should also contain the author's name, designation, organization, address, telephone, fax, and e-mail address. References at the end of the paper and their in-text citing should be according to APA Style manual. The following certificate should be attached with the submitted paper(s): “This is to certify that my/our paper entitled ______ is original, not copy-pasted, and is not published elsewhere.” Papers for the XXXI IATLIS National Conference should reach General Secretary, IATLIS, Department of Library & Information Science, Punjabi University, Patiala – 147002 (Punjab) as email attachment latest by 15 November 2015. There will be no extension after this date. The registration fee does not include breakfast, dinner and accommodation. Papers presented at the conference will be published in the post-conference volume and would be sent to the registered delegates later on as per the decision of the General Body. Delegates are requested to include registration fees for accompanying persons while forwarding their registration forms since it would not be possible to entertain last minute request for accommodation. Accompanying persons shall not be entitled for conference kits. Delegates are requested to intimate their travel plan in advance to avoid last minute inconvenience.
