Dear Friends Association, Washington, D.C., USA has announced a competition in January, 2003 for writing a paper in English on the theme " Leadership and Management Principles Applied to Library ".

Dr. K.A. Raju, Professor and Head (CORD), National Institute of Rural Development has submitted a paper entitled "Traditional Values Skill Relevant in Library Usage and Readership Enhancement (LURE) : Challenges before Librarians", for the above competition.

It is learnt from the organisers of the competition that Dr. Raju's paper secured second place in the competition from out of a total of 49 papers This paper will be published in a special thematic volume of "Science and Technology Libraries" entitled "Leadership and Management Principles in Libraries in Developing Countries" and will be recognised as Honorable Mention papers in the contest.

In addition, the "Twinning" programme of the SLA, Washington, DC Chapter will find a chapter or Division to support Dr. Raju with a two year membership in SLA.
