Dear professional colleagues Vasanth Raju's mail bringning to our notice about two articles copied was never a surprise to me. He has only brought to the notice of us the tip of huge ice berg. How many of us know about the entire PhD theses being copied as such to get degrees.I saw a question from Prof Mallinath Kumbar also."Is there a solution for the prevalent practice of plagiarism. Yes, there are several solutions. 1. Take corrective measures at the beginning itself by putting the write ups of students for plagiarism check. Several platforms are available for this like turn it in. Remove the student from the rolls as soon as he is found doing it.2. Journal / Seminar editors should see that the articles are reviewed and plagiarism checked. If found plagiarized see that the authors are black listed. Last two CALIBER (2011/2013) volumes are tried under plagiarism checker and seen that only good articles get published in them3. The important responsibility rests with the teaching community in ! LIS Schools. During research Methodology classes teach them about writing and data analyzing aspects and more about the menace of Plagiarism. Before we get into deep troubles let us join hands together to avoid this menace embrace our profession. Egos should not play here. Dr GOPAKUMAR V.
