This is an absolutely lovely initiative!! Congratulations.
I have done it at school where a teacher does a book talk for other
teachers. Once for a Conference where a lot of reading material was given,
this seemed realistic so that everyone does not have to read through
everything but reads one book or paper really well and presents that, and
gets a good idea of the other material through book talks.
Wish I could be at Mysore for this!!

Dear Professional Friends,
National Library Week 2015 is Underway!
MyLISA, Mysuru wishes everyone a wonderful NLW 2015!
The Mysore Librarians and Information Scientists’ Association, fondly called MyLISA, has come out with an idea of launching a monthly series called ‘Book Talk in Library Science’ as a part of ensuing National Library Week.
Normally, the ‘book talk’ is offered as a service in libraries for the benefit of their users, and not intended to hep the LIS professionals. However, in this case, a professional association is taking the lead to organize the talk exclusively for LIS professionals and students. A speaker will talk about a book in library and information science for a half an hour and that will be followed by an interaction. Speakers can choose any book in LIS for the talk, but textbook-like books will be discouraged from being the subject of the talk. The language of the talk will either be in English or the local language Kannada, depending again on the preference of the speaker.
The starter of the series will be held on Wednesday, the 18th November 2015 at 4 PM. Dr. N.S. Harinarayana, Associate Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, University of Mysore, Mysore will be the speaker on the book “Ramanjuan: The Man and the Mathematician” authored by Dr. S.R. Ranganathan.
Dr. Muzaffar H. Assadi, Professor and Chairman, Department of Political Science, University of Mysore, Mysore, will be present on the occasion as the Chief Guest. The inaugural of the series will be held at Manasa Hall, Mysore University Building, Manasagangotri, Mysore.
All are cordially invited.
We welcome your suggestions and views on this initiative.
With Regards,
