I had started with fedora but found it too complicated. [Fedora being referred here has nothing to do with a popular Linux distribution]. Moreover it required working from the console (server itself) for some activities. This created inconvenience for me to work remotely. No doubt it uses next generation technologies of "web services".

It is really matter for pride for us all that we have a Fedora expert among us who is offering his services to fellow professionals. Please consider adding your name at http://oadl.pbwiki.com/Experts . The required password is available there itself.

The OADL (Openly Accessible Digital Libraries, http://oadl.pbwiki.com ) is a Wiki to help professionals in developing DLs. Please contribute to it.

Subject: [LIS-Forum] Institutional Repositories

Dear Professionals,

In the today's information explosion especially on open source and open access era, every one must be aware that every library or institution should have their own either institutional repository (IR) or digital library (DL) for easy access of their scholarly resources. In this regards, various ogranizations have developed various IR and DL software on open source mode.

Where as Fedora (www.fedora.info) is also one of the open source softwares that gives organizations flexible tools for managing and delivering their digital content. It is built on the core of powerful digital object model that supports multiple views of each digital object and the relationships among digital objects. Digital objects can encapsulate locally-managed content or make reference to remote content. Dynamic views are possible by associating web services with objects.

This is an open offer to the professionals, who are interested in establishing the Fedora Institutional Digital Repository in to their library. Fedora is based on the Windows OS based IR built on core Java. That's what is platform independent software. I may also help in establishing the Greenstone Digital Library (GSDL) Software to the professionals. However, there are so many professionals are available for helping in building the GSDL Digital Library.

With best regards,

Rajesh
