Subject: [LIS-Forum] MyLISA Elocution Competition - Report & Results
Dear Professional Friends,
Librarians' Day Greetings!
‘Books are for use declares the first law of library science of S.R.
Ranganathan. Inculcating and encouraging reading habit is one of the
implications of the law. Mysore Librarians and Information Scientists
Association (MyLISA) tried to put forwards its small foot in this direction
by conducting an elocution competition for high school children of Mysuru.
The intent behind this competition was to promote reading habit among
school children. This competition was held on 9th August 2015 (the birthday
of Dr. SRR) at the Department of Library and Information Science,
University of Mysore, Mysuru. The topic for the competition was *‘My
favourite book’.*
The competition was attended by 58 students from 22 schools. The parents
and teachers accompanied the students and witnessed the competition. The
range of books read and the presentation of the summary of the books by the
children amazed the audience and the judges alike.
It is pleasant to note that the autobiography 'Wings of Fire' by Dr. A.P.J.
Abdul Kalam was the most talk about book in the competition. Even Kannada
speakers talked about it. MyLISA takes this opportunity to salutes the
great soul who taught us to dream. You will live in our hearts forever…!!!
*The result of the competition is as follows:*
