Dear Madam, Although we are heading towards digital era, our financial audit rules and regulations in our country have not been modified to include 'electronic' records. Hence, we may still need the physical record (accession register) to show it to the auditors confirming the purchase of books from the library funds. I still feel that we should have an accession register which will be of help to librarians in many ways. Please remember that in our country a xerox copy of a document is still not a valid document untill a gazzetted officer or someone puts his signature!! Koteswara Rao Central Library, IIT Madras
Dear Sir/ Madam, In this Digital Era, is there any necessity of the Accession Register. Because, if the Library is fully computerized, then we can get all the information in a fraction of second. Now my doubt is- Is there any necessity of Accession Register for the computerized Library OR Is it waste of time and energy to write all the information in the Accession Register?
