Dear Members, Dr. Goudar has raised certain very valid points. We need to certainly laud the efforts that have gone into the development of NewGenLib. The software has emerged as a globally competitive open source ILMS and that is a commendable feat which all of us should feel proud about. But in a free market, I am not sure if it is appropriate to align with any one product as suggested. Dr. Goudar himself has pointed out that many softwares in the past did not survive. That is because these softwares were not accepted by libraries for whatever reasons including poor after sales, no marketing, partially developed and so on. Therefore, in my humble opinion, we should with an open mind accept the developments that are happening, be it Koha, SOUL or NewGenLib and leave it to the libraries to adopt whichever software they are comfortable with.
