Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Mumbai is planning to open a new library in its premises. Therefore we invite applications for the position of the Librarian.
MMB is part of the worldwide network of the Goethe-Institut Munich and promotes German language and culture abroad. The library provides comprehensive and up-to-date information about Germany.
Responsibilities:
Ø Implement the new concept for library and information work in cooperation with the Regional Institute in Delhi
Ø Convert the collection profile
Ø Develop and maintain new library services according to the needs of patrons
Ø Provide information services about Germany
Ø Introduce new library software for cataloguing and circulation
Ø Market library resources and services to target groups
Ø Organize events to promote collection and services
Ø Plan and monitor library budget
Ø Evaluation of library performance (reports, statistics)
Requirements:
Ø Master’s degree from an accredited library school
Ø Minimum of two years professional experience
Ø Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ø Good knowledge of spoken and written German language and culture an advantage
Ø Competence in using new technology as a research tool
Ø Profound knowledge of computer applications
Ø Strong commitment to public service
Ø Initiative, flexibility, and strong ability to work in a team environment
Ø Organizational skills are a must
