I regret to let all professional friends know of the passing away of Sri. T N Rajan on 1st May 2017. He was the Head of Training and teacher in the INSDOC post-graduate Associateship Course on Information Management to several batches of students, some of whom went on to take on senior positions in India and overseas. Mr Rajan was 89 when he passed away. Mr Rajan was a humble teacher, always willing to learn from his seniors and engage in discussion with his students. Not many know that he was an accomplished player on the Veena. He was also a musicologist; his insightful understanding of classical Carnatic music was known to few. Many of his students like me are well past their prime and we remember him for his gentle ways. His emphasis was always on the need for professionals to never forget that users and user satisfaction should be the prime motivating force, all other things are secondary. I had the privilege of working closely with him when 3 of us produced a Music CD titled 'Saint Tyagaraja: a Multimedia Presentation.' This was developed in 1997-98 and worked under Windows-98. The same application has now been made into an App for Android nd I-phone devices. His contribution to this product in 1997-98 will be remembered by music lovers. On behalf of professionals I have conveyed our condolences to his wife and children.
