Friends: In an earlier mail I said that it is important to alert scientists and research students to the papers available for free from the hundreds of OA archives around the world. A friend of mine, Prof. Ganapathy Baskaran of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai (Bhatnagar Award winner for physics), spends about two hours in every workshop he conducts for university and college teachers and research students telling the participants about how to get the best out of the Internet. He actually demonstrates using an Internet connected PC in the classroom how one can learn a great deal from variety of sources and actually download the full text of key papers. We should encourage many others who conduct summer/winter schools and refresher courses to do the same. Clearly many researchers are not aware of important developments like open access and all they need is a little push.
