Dear Colleagues The Department of Library and Information Science, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh is organizing a Training Course in Research Methodology and Computer Applications in Social Science Research from 20th to 25th March, 2012. This training program is aimed to foster the skills and competencies in the application of research methods that students or academicians are expected to acquire. The training program will raise the general level of skills and knowledge amongst faculty and research scholars of social science and humanities by ensuring that they acquire, and can apply, basic and advanced quantitative and qualitative research skills that are responsive to the needs of social science subject areas and disciplines. *Target Group* Ø Faculty members from Faculty of Social Sciences, Commerce and Management Ø Registered Ph.D Scholars. Ø Interested persons involved in academic/social research / working in NGOs. *Intake* Number of participants is limited to 50 on first come first serve basis. *Resource persons* The classes and other activities will be guided by eminent resource persons in the field of social science research from the reputed institutions in the country. *Duration of the Training* This training program is scheduled for six days from 20-25th March, 2012. Timings: 10am to 4pm *Course content and topics* ü Information sources for research in Internet era. ü Tools and Methods of social science research. ü Writing the final thesis/ report effectively. ü Hands-on training in SPSS software packages. *Important Dates* Registration starts 24th February, 2012 Registration closes 12th March, 2012 Note:- *There is no registration fee*. D.A will be paid to the all participants on the successful completion of course as per ICSSR norms. Non local participants will be entitled to get 2nd Class return railway fare. *Accommodation* Accommodation may be arranged on nominal tariffs for the participants in the University Guest House or near by hotels on first come first served basis.
