THEME OF THE CONFERENCE A transformation is needed for learning resource centers from focusing on the traditional information provider in the service operation system to focusing on the information recipient, that is, the user. In particular, libraries are faced with radically changing user demands as well as environment changes. Thus new management strategies and techniques are required for libraries. Hence, in order to fulfill these needs this conference aims to focus on Six Sigma methodology which benefits clear value proposition and return on investment, top commitment, accountability, customer focus, business metrics, process orientation, project focus and a complete culture change that evolves in systematic approach to problem solving and a pro-active attitude among employees. The goal of the conference is to bring leading Six Sigma practitioners and those conducting research in both industry and academia in these areas to one platform to foster collaboration. This will also enable faculty and students to gain an exposure to the important problems in this growing field. OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE To provide a forum to the participants to discuss or present their papers on recent advances in Six Sigma Methodology, especially information resource management, personnel management, customer satisfaction, improving the quality services. To create awareness and understanding about the importance of introducing and executing Six Sigma Methodology in library and information services, motivate participants to achieve optimum level of performance in library services with the help of Six Sigma. INVITED SPEAKERS Professors from reputed institutions and Veteran Six Sigma business professionals. THE TWO-DAY CONFERENCE WILL INCLUDE - Keynote talks, presented by well-known Six Sigma professionals - Focused-track sessions, in which selected papers will be presented on various areas of Six Sigma. CALL FOR PAPERS Librarians, Teachers, Research scholars, Academicians, Students and Industry Experts are invited to submit papers describing original research papers. Papers describing theoretical or empirical research, new techniques and tools, and in-depth case studies are all welcome. Submissions should be original and should not have been published previously or currently be under consideration for publication elsewhere. The advisory committee will receive and evaluate the papers and the acceptance will be intimated to the authors by October 20, 2009. The authors of selected paper should register for participation. The papers of the registered candidates will only be published in the conference proceedings.
