The next part looks at the trends in cyber systems in terms of information flows, evolution of insecurity in OS and the consequent security issues. A brief on the security approach for high assurance security will be provided. The talk will emphasis on security challenges and solutions in general and will not be centred in terms of specific products and *Dr. Subrata Rakshit* Dr. Subrata Rakshit did his B. Tech from IIT Bombay in Engineering Physics in 1988. He completed his MS in Electrical Engineering in 1989 and PhD in Image Processing from Caltech, USA in Jan 1994. After a short postdoc fellowship at Washington University, St Louis USA, he joined CAIR, DRDO in Dec 1994 where he continues to worked currently. . At CAIR, DRDO Dr. Rakshit has worked on image processing, computer vision, neural networks, and cyber security. From 2000 to 2012 he headed the Computer Vision group and worked on multi-sensor data fusion and net-centric warfare, participating in various CAIR activities related to Army's TAC C3I development projects. Dr Rrakshit has received DRDO awards for his work on neural network based image matching and for image and video processing for net-centric systems. He has received award from BEL for his contribution to Sitiuation Awareness Tool in Battlefield Surviellance System, under Proj SANJAY.
From Jan 2013 to Aug 2017 he had been with the Secure Systems Division of CAIR, initially as Division Head and then as Technical Mentor. He guided design and development in the areas of cyber security, secure execution environments, secure communications & networking and he has also contributed to information security policy formulation.
He is currently Outstanding Scientist and Associate Director (Technology) CAIR, overseeing CAIR technology development activities in Command-Control, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Cyber Security. He has contributed to the RM’s AI Task Force report and has interacted with various MoD organizations regarding adoption of AI technologies in indigenous defense systems. *Talk-2: Blockchain Technology: Potential Applications and Practical Implementation * Blockchain is an innovative distributed ledger technology where verification of data for the transactional records is cryptographically secured against tampering and stored in blocks. This technology allows new type of distributed software architecture capable of finding concurrence on their shared states without need to establish online trust with any central entity/participant. This makes it a unique solution to the problem of trust in the digital world, leading towards decentralized trust. Blockchain Technology is relevant for the real-time usage of plethora of applications. Globally people are using it for various use cases in e-governance, healthcare, cyber security, automobiles, media, travel, hospitality, energy, smart cities and so on. Though Blockchain Technology is a promising emerging area and its value proposition is assessed for use cases and prototypes are developed & deployed, certain challenges need to be addressed to scale up the efforts. Talk would focus on the Potential of Blockchain Technology, Practical Implementation & efforts being made in India and challenges to be addressed to scale up the efforts. *Mrs. P. R. Lakshmi Eswari* Mrs. P. R. Lakshmi Eswari, is presently working as Associate Director, e-Security R&D, C-DAC Hyderabad. She is currently involved in the Research & Development of end system security solutions, embedded security, mobile device security and blockchain technology. As an outcome of R&D efforts solutions such as Application and Device Control, USB Pratirodh, AppSamvid, Browser JS Guard, M-Kavach etc. are developed by their team. She is associated with C-DAC for the past 19 years in various R&D projects and skill based training activities.
