Sri Lanka Library Association National Conference on Library and Information Studies (NACLIS 2007) Colombo, Sri Lanka, 8-9 March 2007 Call for Papers/Participation General Theme: Information Management in the Digital Environment The Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) invites members, practitioners, academics and other interested parties to participate in the National Conference on Library and Information Studies to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, 8-9 March 2007. The main objective of this conference is to provide an ideal forum to the library professionals and information providers to come together and interact on subjects of mutual interest, leading to the professional development of the information community in the country. Although the SLLA is particularly interested in papers on the main theme, following sub themes will also be considered · Digital Library Initiatives: Concepts, Policies, Plans, Services, Achievements, Expectations, Lessons Learnt · Promoting the implementation of Open Access · Institutional Repositories: policies, implementation issues, technologies · Libraries and Life Long Learning · Community Information Services in the Digital Environment · Library Co-operation and Networking in the Digital Era The SLLA wishes to receive expressions of interest from potential presenters on the above themes and encourage submissions on practical rather than theoretical aspects of the themes. The intention is for members of the information community to have a chance to hear about ‘best practices’ that is emerging within the country/region. Papers may address policy or practice, technology applications, case studies or principles involved in. 1. The deadline for submitting a detailed, one-page abstract and full author details is 15 November 2006. Selection of papers is based on the abstract, and presenters will be informed of the outcome of the review panel by 15 December 2006 2. The full paper is due on 28 February 2007 and must be an original submission not published elsewhere 3. Both abstracts and full papers should be submitted by e-mail 4. Papers should be of 20 pages maximum, double spaced 5. Papers should be in English with a one-page abstract 6. 20 minutes will be allowed for a summary delivery of the paper in the Conference 7. The author(s) should indicate his/her personal full contact details and include summary curriculum vitae with the paper. Also, a digital photograph would be useful. Selection: Full abstracts (1 page, or at least 400 words) should be prepared indicating the purpose of the paper, methodology/approach, findings, research limitations, practical implications and original value of paper. Each abstract will be blind reviewed by a panel of experts. Late submissions will not be considered.
