Dear friends, I received a phone call from my teacher Prof. Pitambar Padhi today evening at around 9 p.m. and got the news that was really shocking. Therefore, with a deep sense of sorrow and grief, I would like to inform you all that one of the veteran in LIS Profession Professor Ratnakar Rout fondly known as Prof. R.K Rout has left for his heavenly abode today afternoon i.e. 15th February 2018 at 1:40 p.m in his residence at Cuttack, Odisha. He was a former Professor and Head, P.G.department of Library & Information Science, Sambalpur University, Odisha. He was born in 1946 and was regarded as an acclaimed LIS Professor in India. He was a great teacher and philosopher who has immensely contributed to the field of LIS Education in Odisha. He was instrumental in establishing LIS department at Sambalpur University, Odisha, that is now considered as the oldest LIS Department in Odisha. It is a great loss to his family, friends and LIS profession as well. May his departed soul rest in peace.
