Dear Friends.
Last Day(24th-25thMarch. 2008) I attended a National Workshop on
Building Digital Libraries using DSpace, (Organised Jointly by
School of Engineering & Centre For Information Resource Management
(CIRM) Cochin University of Science & Technology in Collaboration
with Central Library, IIT Madras). It was such a good experience
for me.Unlike other workshops which give importance for the resource
persons expertise, this workshop stood different, which gave good
emphasis for the participants and I believe that the seminar
inculcated good knowledge about Dspace.It dealt with the practical
and theoretical session of Dspace. In the practical session good
emphasis was given for How to Install Dspace in Windows. Earlier I
believed or in other words most of my colleagues told me installing
Dspace is a herculean task, which could be installed only with the
help of a computer professional. But by attending this workshop, I
am confident, and I could confidently say that we Library
Professionals also can install dspace with minimal efforts and which
would contribute a revolutionary change in the Open Access Movement
by setting up our Digital Repositories using Dspace. I would like to
Congragulate all the team members especially Resource Person
G.Santhosh Kumar and Workshop Co-ordinator Surendran Cherukodan who
took all the efforts to organise such a wonderful workshop
