Abstract: The term "Intellectual Property" basically means "creation of mind" such as machine, process, design etc with creative or useful output. IP, due to its intangible nature, gets protection under law as patent, copyright, trademark; industrial design etc provided it fulfils basic requirements for protection as prescribed by the legislation. On one hand, IP if protected and exploited sensibly is a valuable asset and can fetch great revenues but on the other hand infringement of third party's IP with or without knowledge can be disastrous. Therefore, need of the hour is to get oneself aware on various aspects of IPR so that it can be used as a tool to generate revenues. About The Speaker: Bindu Sharma has eight years of research experience working in reputed institutes of the country such as National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), New Delhi, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and Jubilant Biosys (P) Ltd., Bangalore. She founded Origiin IP Solutions in the year 2006 and has been handling work such as various patent searches, Patent drafting, filing and prosecution at IPO and PCT, office actions including opposition and revocation petitions, drafting agreements relating transfer of technology, registration of copyright, trademark, conducting IP Audit, framing IP Policies and processes etc for knowledge based companies and academics. She has been speaker in several conferences, symposiums and has conducted various awareness workshops on IPR for academics as well as corporates. She is visiting faculty in many reputed colleges in India. She is a Registered Patent Agent at Indian Patent Office, Enrolled as Advocate in Karnataka State Bar Council .
