Hello: I am happy to report that this year the IFLA world conference was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 21-28, August 2004. About 3500 delegates from over 85 countries attended.About 170 papers on various aspects of information literacy were presented. India was represented by: Professor.C R Karisiddappa, Ex-President(ILA) Dr.J.K.Vijaya Kumar (INFLIBNET) Dr.Leena Shaw (Govt College,Mehidpur,Ujjain) Mr.R.C.Ahuja, Joint Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat Mr.Pavan Kumar, Director, Research Wing, Rajya Sabha Mr.Raj Kumar, P G Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh Dr.karisiddappa presented three papers and Dr Leena Shaw,and Mr. Raj kumar each one paper.

We were greatly honored by the Indian Ambassador in Argentina,Shri Rinwing Wangdi and Smt Pema Wangdi who hosted a dinner to the Indian delegates at their residence.

I, on my part, had detailed discussion with several officers of IFLA including the Secretary General, coordinator of professional activities,and Chairperson of Special Libraries Division, and pleaded for a Separate IFLA Section for Agricultural Libraries.Back in USA, I am working on this idea and collecting letters from IFLA Members from different countries in different parts of the world. If approved by the Governing Board of IFLA in their meeting in December, it may start as a Discussion Group in Oslo, Norway(2005),continue as a group in Seoul, Korea (2006) and start as a Section in Durban, South Africa (2007). This will provide another international forum for agricultural librarians, information professionals.
