Workshop on Quality Control Measures in Scientific Research
Organized jointly by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment and Centre for Information Literacy Studies,  University of Kerala

Objective of the Workshop 
The Theme of the Workshop is Quality Control Measures in Scientific Research. Its main objective is to familiarize the research community with the developments that have taken place at the global level in the field of research communication so as to enable them to be conversant with international practices adopted to maintain quality in research.
 
Target group 
          The Workshop is primarily aimed at Science administrators, Scientists, Research Guides in S & T, Research Scholars and Information Professionals working in R & D institutions and universities. The number of participants is restricted to 40. Preference will be given to researchers and information professionals working in the research institutions coming under the purview of Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE).
 
Topics covered  
          The areas intended to be covered are:
 
  1. Changing trends in scientific communication  
  2. Research tools in the Internet  
  3. Indicators of research quality  
  4. Bibliometric indicators  
  5. Statistical analysis of research data  
  6. Ensuring quality in research publications. 
Resource persons 
          The resource persons include well known authorities in the field of Scientometrics led by Prof.. Subbiah Arunachalam, India's and the developing world's great advocate for open access.  
 
Travel and accommodation 
          The participants have to make their own arrangements for the travel and accommodation. The organizers will provide course materials, lunch and light refreshments as part of the Workshop. 
Registration 
          There is no registration fee for the Workshop and admission is on first come first served basis. However, efforts will be made to accommodate participants from maximum number of institutions.
