Friends: Earlier this week, we saw the news story on the DST-DBT mandatory OA policy that appeared in Nature. Now Science has also carried the news. Please see < http://news.sciencemag.org/asiapacific/2014/12/india-s-major-science-funders...
.
The important question now is: When will other funding agencies in India come up with a similar (or even better) mandatory OA policy? Please write to UGC, DRDO, DAE, Dept of Space, ICMR, and other agencies investing taxpayers' money on R&D and request them to adopt an OA policy as soon as possible. CSIR-URDIP, Pune, has already set up Science Central, a central repository that would harvest papers deposited in institutional repositories of all institutions under DST and DBT. Science Central is similar to CSIR Central which harvests all repositories of CSIR labs. We are indebted to URDIP for this service.
