Dear LIS Professionals, Sub: Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for Assistant Librarians/ College Librarians In the UGC letter No. F.2-1/94(PS)-7 dated 19.10.2006 on the subject cited above: Para 1,i,b, of the letter under reference states: The refresher courses prescribed in the letter are of minimum four weeks duration, where as the UGC has approved Refresher Course of 3 week duration for Academic Staff Colleges established by the U.G.C. in various universities of the country. "Whereas in case of teachers the wording says, one Orientation Course and one Refresher Course of approved duration as may be specified by the U.G.C." The Orientation Course has no mentioned in the letter, whereas in the wait of new CAS, many professionals whose senior scale is due or going to be due in near future have completed one Orientation Course. This needs to be brought under the notice of U.G.C. and got rectified subsequently.
