Introduction
Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET), a network of
management libraries, was born in the year 2000 and is
in operation for the past six years as a registered
Society in Delhi under Societies Regulation Act of
1860. MANLIBNET was established with sharing and
exchanging new information and developments among
library professionals as one of its aims.
The network has already organized seven national
conventions:

The Eighth MANLIBNET Annual Convention is being
organized at the Institute of Management, Nirma
University, Ahmedabad. In its endeavor to provide a
platform and opportunity to the library professionals
to learn, share and deliberate on issues of
professional interest with a focus, the Annual
MANLIBNET conventions have a theme that is made up of
various sub-themes. This annual convention of
MANLIBNET has the following theme and sub-themes:
Theme
Technology and Management Trends: Perspectives and
opportunities for library professionals
Sub-themes
1. Technology Trends: Access, Organization and
Retrieval Technologies
2. Library Security Trends: Video Camera, Magnetic
Strips, RFID, etc
3. Management Trends: Marketing, Finance, Human
Resources & Strategy
Speakers
Eminent technology and management experts will be
invited to speak on the various sub-themes in addition
to selected paper presentations on the sub-themes.
Call for papers
Papers on the various sub-themes are invited on or
before August 15, 2006. Deadlines will be strictly
adhered to as the selected papers will be invited for
presentation and included in the conference volume
that is planned to be published before the convention
for distribution to the participants.
Papers with original ideas, theoretical or application
oriented and case studies of libraries in the context
of the theme will be selected. Young professionals
are encouraged to contribute.
For Whom
The convention is organized keeping in mind the
library professionals working in various institutions
like academic, corporate, public, nonprofit, etc.
However persons from other disciplines like faculty of
b-schools, business researchers, information
technology professionals, etc are also encouraged to
participate.
Fees
Residential Participants: Rs. 1,600/- (one thousand
six hundred only)
Non-residential Participants: Rs. 1,000/- (one
thousand only)
The payment has to be made by DD or cheque drawn in
favor of Institute of Management, Nirma University.
Please note that
1. The accommodation charges are highly subsidized and
the charges are for three days only.
2. There is limited accommodation facility available
in the campus hostel and the same will be allocated on
first-come-first-serve basis.
3. For late registrants only dormitory type
accommodation on campus is available.
4. If desired hotel accommodation on actual extra
payment will be facilitated.

The last date for registration is August 15, 2006.

Institute of Management, Ahmedabad was established

Nirma University of Science and Technology
Established by the legendary Dr. Karsanbhai K. Patel,
Chairman, Nirma Group, under the aegis of Nirma

Institute of Management (1996), an innovative
Institute of Diploma Studies (1997), an upcoming
Institute of Pharmacy (2003), a technology business
incubator - NirmaLabs (2004) and an emerging Institute

emerged as centers of excellence offering various
programmes ranging from undergraduate to doctoral
levels in technology, engineering, business, pharmacy
and sciences.
The Government of Gujarat established the Nirma
University of Science and Technology under Act No. 10
passed by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Gujarat in April 2003. This development witnessed the
merging of all Institutes under the NERF into a single
entity of Nirma University of Science and Technology.
The university has also been recognized by the
University Grants Commission (UGC) under the section 2
(f) of the UGC Act.
Spread over the sprawling 140 acres of beautifully
landscaped area, the campus is among one of the most
impressive ones in India. Massive educational
complexes set in lush green environs provide the right
ambience and atmosphere for intellectual interaction
and stimulation. The world class infrastructure
includes auditoriums, seminar rooms, class rooms,
computer laboratories, library, hostels, canteens, etc
facilitate teaching-learning processes that fascinate
and delight students, faculty, corporate visitors,
foreigners and parents.
Library Resource Center
Presently operating as three libraries, i.e.,
Technology, Management and Pharmacy, the libraries on
the campus cater to the needs of the academic
fraternity of the university. The Institute of
Management Library has over the years established
itself as a rich resource for business and management
research, education and training requirements and
usually rates high in all the Indian b-school
rankings. The library provides access to a wide range
of resources in print and digital formats. Digital
library initiatives at the library provide friendly
and convenient access to library resources through a
library portal that can be accessed throughout the
campus. Adopting effective technologies like barcode,
biometric, digital scanning and other Information
technologies the library makes its various services
user friendly. The library also drives the book club
of the Institute Sumantra that provides a platform
to the students to review leading books to interested
faculty and students.
