Under the current plan period, central government intended to set up 30 central universities, out of which 15 are in various stages of operation for the 2010-11 session. It has been noted only a small fraction of these universities have opened any information-related courses/ curricula. Historically, central universities have not included information as a subject in their academics. Out of these newly established set-ups, only Central university of Himachal Pradesh appears to have included this subject in their academics.
