Dear Library Friends, The message from Dr. K. N. Prasad informing LIS fraternity about Dr. R. Shivanna getting the Rajyotsava Award for 2010 was indeed a great news to me personally and for other library professionals as well. I was his student of B.Lib.Sc. course during 1974-75. He was an excellent teacher, a good human being and a simple soul. He always encouraged and guided students both during the course and later for securing jobs. He had a long career both as faculty and Asst. librarian (later as Deputy Librarian) at the Bangalore University. In fact, I have'nt met him for many many years now, but when I saw this thrilling news, I planned to share my thoughts with my library friends.
