Banglore- 560059 DRTC Seminar On Open Document Format (ODF) Abstract The open document format is a means of creating word processing, spreadsheet, chart and presentation documents in a standardized XML format. It is a new international standard for documents created using office type programs. The open document format is intended as a document type that could be used on any office program, that means one can create a spreadsheet in openoffice calc, save it in the standard open document format for spreadsheet and then be able to open it in any other spreadsheet program - Lotus, Quattro Pro or Excel and without losing any data. In this seminar I am going to discuss about what is open document format, how it originated, Organization behind this, its various features, benefits and its internal structure and use in digital preservation.
