With sincere apologies for posting to multiple lists... Your cooperation is requested to participate in the Global Consortia Survey! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=kjGxkGVZ_2bp6z5c5zhDYH_2fQ_3d_3d The Academic and Research Libraries(ARL) Section is very
aware of the need to offer members tangible benefits of membership in addition to the once-a-year congress. The ARL Section meeting considered feedback provided by participants at the mentoring session held in Durban, South Africa and developed the Project outline to see whether the benefit in a developing country could be extended. The experiment resulted in the discovery of a greater need toward identifying professional partnership development opportunities. ARL received a 2,000 Euros grant to develop guidelines!
The Global Consortia Survey will provide information to develop opportunities for interaction among more experienced professionals.
The project aims to develop guidelines for: (1) Libraries in the developed world who are willing to partner with a library in a developing country stating requirements and expectations; (2) Libraries in the developing world who wish to be partnered with a library in the developed world stating requirements and expectations; (3) Guidelines for partner institutions; and (4) Review, evaluate and terminate partnerships over time. More details available in the current ARL Newsletter - http://www.ifla.org/VII/s2/pub/s2-newsletter-July08.pdf
Your assistance to identify existing consortia/cooperatives or network services is greatly appreciated. As an incentive to participate in this survey, one participant will be selected to win a free registration to the 75th WLIC in Milan, Italy.
You are also welcome to send this request to others, translate, print, mail, fax or other method of assistance.
Please contact me if you have any difficulty with the link to this survey or other questions or comments.
Thank you for your cooperation.
