If you have, Scholar Monitor is what you want. The program was inspired by and reused source code from Persistent Searches to Gmail. Scholar Monitor allows a user to set particular keywords, and monitors the result counts of keywords. If there are new papers, it shows a new! mark with counts. For example if a user is interested in monitoring a Jim's paper about WebDAV, she can add a keywors, "author: jim WebDAV" for Scholar Monitor.
