[LIS-Forum] Permissible number of lose books after stock verification

Dear fellow professionals, I would like to know is there any rule which help the Librarian against book lose.We have conducted stock verification in our self financing Engineering College Library and found some books missing.The management demand us to impose a common fine from students or to collect the compensation from library staff. I would be greatful if I get expertise regarding the matter so that I can claim the management regarding the rule. Waiting for your valuable comments.
