This is to convey my hearty congratulations to the Library professionals
of Karnataka on the declaration of August 12 as Librarians' Day. The
government deserve our immense thanks for according this noble
profession of information communication and knowledge generation the
recognition which was long overdue. It will certainly give a much needed
boost to the morale of the serving library professionals and also help
bring the profession, its nature & contributions, to the public eye.
Librarians being teacher of teachers are really the backbone of any
successful educational & research institution. Undoubtedly, the
celebrations should be grand. But the accolade will ring true only when
the beneficiaries- the academic community and students- come forward to
put on record their appreciation of the librarians' contributions.
