This refers to your recent message posted on LIS-forum on LIS PhDs.
I am little surprised to see the names of following
universities/organizations as offering PHDs in LIS:
8 Birla Institute of Technology,Ranchi
20 Cochin University of Sci & Tech,Ernakulam
34 Indian Institute of Technology,Delhi
38 Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi
68 Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner
69 Ranchi University,Ranchi
To the best of my knowledge, none of these universities offer a Masters in
Library Science but I may be wrong.
Can you please send me the followings:
1. The list of PHD titles from each of these universities
2.Departments which offered PHDs.
3. Did the awards mention that the degree was offered in partial
fulfillment of doctoral study in Library and Information Science?

Dear Prof. Laxman Rao and prof. Amudhavalli, As per my data collection over decades on LIS research, the following Universities have produced PhDs in LIS in India since 1950s. There could be some more universities that may be offering LIS course without producing any PhD till 2014. The list may be updated with missing universities if any.
