Friends: What can public libraries do? Indeed a great deal. Here is a whole list of over 600 individuals (and some teams) articulating what they would want libraries to do. Please visit: <*https://www.newschallenge.org/challenge/libraries/feedback https://www.newschallenge.org/challenge/libraries/feedback*>. Such crowdsourcing can be of great value. In fact, in a way, it is the idea of crowdsourcing citizen science projects have used to advance science. Look at projects like Polymath, Galaxy Zoo, Foldit, and several others. In India, we have the OSDD (Open Source Drug Discovery) project (initiated by Prof. Samir Brahmachari, former Director General of CSIR). I would like to see professional associations in India (ILA, IASLIC, SIS, SLA-India, etc.) pay attention to such activities. Masters level courses in LIS should sensitize students to such issues.
