Dear All, CALL FOR PAPERS: The American Library Association's Near East and South Asia (NESA) Subcommittee is seeking papers for presentation at the American Library Association Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, June 23-28, 2011. Papers should focus on some aspect of digital libraries, institutional repositories, or digitization projects in the Near East and South Asia. Please see http://www.ala.org/ala/aboutala/offices/iro/neareastsouth.cfm for a list of countries that the subcommittee covers as proposed papers should include projects or institutions in one or more of these countries. The subcommittee will consider a broad range of papers related to the topic. Possible subjects include but are not limited to: * Collaborative projects between U.S. or European institutions and institutions in the NESA countries * Projects that effect a virtual reunification of cultural records * Digitization of manuscripts, rare books, photographs, maps or historic documents unique to the NESA countries * Promoting establishment and use of institutional repositories to capture intellectual output * Technical and financial challenges for creating digital libraries in the region Papers will be selected based on their originality, clarity, and relevance to the NESA countries. Presenters will be responsible for their own travel and registration expenses (although registration waivers may be available).
