Friends, A major concern in scholarly communication is the proliferation of predatory journals. Unfortunately, India has earned the dubious distinction of being one of the largest centres of predatory journal publishing. Predatory journals also gave birth to a large number of predatory 'international conferences.' Librarians in HEIs and research institutions, as mediators of scholarly information, have a role to play in curbing this menace. Now the world academies have called for concerted action to combat predatory journals and conferences. Please see the report ‘Combatting Predatory Academic Journals and Conferences’ < https://www.interacademies.org/publication/predatory-practices-report-English> released by the Inter Academy Partnership (IAP). A summary report is available at < https://www.interacademies.org/project/predatorypublishing>.
