Dear LIS Professionals

Greetings!!!!

I am delighted to see the affection of Mr. Vinod towards fighting the wrong doers in our noble profession. I appreciate his will and assure to help him to any extent he wants in putting barricades to such malpractices. I do not fear to be disclosed, as fighting for genuine rights to save our profession from culprits could not make us fear.

After a long struggle and with help of many of our LIS researchers and contacts we have marked some culprits who have defamed our profession. They are in process to get their fake doctorate degrees and even some supervisors are a helping hand to them by charging good amount of money from the candidate.

The most disgracing is that AMU, one of the first university to start a bachelor course in Library Science has such researcher. Mr. Naved Ahmed one of a researcher from the department of Library Science of AMU has produced a fake application and doing job abroad. According to his application he is aside from the department for data collection, but the reality is he is having his job in middle east. There are enough evidence against him. Out of this, the most shocking is, he pays a hefty percentage of his salary to his supervisor to get his research done on his behalf.

So the question of this hour is, that  is such researchers will bring laurel to our profession or is it a trend in our filed to have such researchers? Up to what extent such researchers can be a good academician to bright the future of library science? If such research can not be barricaded the genuineness of research will be questioned and no doubt the genuine student will have no place in-front of such fake degrees. The moral support of our genuine researchers will go down if such type of research is promoted.

On behalf of all LIS researchers I urge all of our library professionals to kindly come up with your strong protest against such malpractices on LIS network where a researcher is trying to get a fake doctorate degree through paying a hefty amount.

Thanks

Dear All,
The point raised by Ghani is not only the example of malpractices in LIS there are several other heart burning examples which forced me to develop HDLS at http://lishelp.ning.com to raise our voices against such type of issues. But the major thing is who will take initiave for such type of bad activities although we have lot of powers given by our constitution like RTI Act, Human Rights, Consumer forum etc.
I simply wanted to say we must use such type of powers to reduce the shortcomings if you can't then let me know in details i will raise the questions under RTI without disclosing your identity.

**Does the UGC allow a university research scholar to deceive the

department and do job abroad on the name of data collection?*

Dear LIS professionals

Greetings!!!

As we are aware that UGC is the highest governing body to ensure high

quality education in India. The way UGC has come up with research funds, is

no doubt appreciative at every account. Every central university is bound to

follow the norms of UGC Act/Ordinances/ Rules and Regulation. For each sect

within the university, UGC has its own norms and regulations.

*So keeping all the UGC Act/Circulars/Rules and Regulation in concern, the

question arise after seeing the current trend that does UGC allow a research

scholar of a central university to deceive the department and do job abroad

on the name of data collection?

*

We have been going through lot of posting on this forum in regard to the

improvement and trends of LIS, as well as its a hot topic in this forum to

change the current scenario of the LIS. The question at this hour is that

researchers are the pillars and path to come up with new innovation to their

respective fields. But, it seems to be a trend in the university and

specially in library science department producing fake researcher who never

ever paid heed to their research and being awarded a doctorate degree by the

end of their duration confined by UGC. Is this type of researcher will bring

change who had their thesis copied by some one else, doing job abroad and

their guide working on his/her behalf, deceiving the department and enjoying

other monetary benefits on the name of data collection, paying a hefty

amount to the supervisor of his/her income.

I will be pleased to hear the answer to my question on this forum specially

by senior academicians of LIS profession, experts of LIS profession, serving

current and ex LIS member professionals to UGC and from all who want to

improve the scenario of LIS profession.
