Friends: Achieving high level of information litearcy is one of the things the National Knowledge Commission and the LIS community should be greatly concerned about. I mean information litearcy at all levels - the lay public, the school children, college and university students, professionals and researchers. Which means libraries at all levels - public libraries, school and college libraries, university libraries, research and special libraries - should be sensitised to promoting information literacy. In today's world information litearcy is intertwined with information technology and Web literacy. Information literacy is especially important in today's India where we are producing graduates in large numbers but it is felt taht a very large percent of them are unemployable.
