Verus Solutions, (www.verussolutions.biz), the developers of NewGenLib (NGL) have taken the initiative to develop Free Lancers in different parts of the country. The Free Lancers will get free training in installing the latest version of NGL (version 3.0.3), training and presumably trouble shooting. Free Lancers could be librarians or software professionals and need not have had any previous experience with NGL. Training of Free Lancers will be done online via a remote desktop application such as TeamViewer. There is no charge for becoming a Free Lancer and it is up to the free lancer to charge or not charge the library that he/she helps. In fact the remote desktop method is also being used for trouble shooting current installations as well. I think this is an innovative initiative and I hope professionals will take advantage of this and help smaller libraries to use a good library management system.
