It is shocking news to hear about sad demise of Prof. Ganesh Bhattacharya today morning. Prof. Bhattacharya, as all us know, was a scholar of great repute. His contributions to the field of indexing and cataloguing have drawn international attention. POPSI, an indexing method developed by him, has been considered as one of the important contributions to library and information science. He had associated with a few activities of Department of Library and Information Science, University of Mysore, Mysore in the past. On behalf of my colleagues in the Department and myself I express my heartfelt condolences to the family members of Prof. Bhattacharya. I pray the almighty to rest his soul in peace.
