Dear professionals, There could be many suggestions/reminders for missing names from our professionals as the list appears to be incomplete. It is good to note that some initial thinking has gone to our mind to identify star performers in our profession and to publish their contributions. Let us start preparing the list of star performers on some solid principles without any bias... let me start scribbling some ground rules and invite you all to contribute your ideas: 1. the list could include significant contributors to LIS research field. For example professionals who have produced maximum number of doctoral students. 2. Maximum number of research publications(own contribution rather than collaborative work) 3. significant contribution to fight for our profession at govt/national level bodies and achieved remarkable growth 4. our professionals holding very high positions in Univ/govt/international orgns 5. professionals who brought significant projects (national/international level) and contributed their might to the field's development 6. star performers in LIS education, research and/or practice. 7. We can think of segmenting the list based on visible contribution in education, research and practice. 8. the pioneers and national/international level awardees Let us start fruitful discussions on the topic and make it rich so that we can have comprehensive list of our star performers' on scientific/logical grounds. Again I request all our professionals to have fruitful professional discussions so that we can have satisfaction of contributing something to our field. You would be glad to know that the 'Satinder Kaur Ramdev Memorial Trust for Advancement of Librarianship (SATKAL)' has decided to publish a series of books on the *Pillars of Indian Librarianship: A SATKAL Tribute to the library doyens in India.* It will include the profiles and contributions of the library doyens who are no more with us (left for their heavenly abode) but have made profound contribution to the library profession in India. The first volume is likeky to be released in November 2012 at the annual function of the SATKAL in collaboration with the annual conference of the IATLIS.
