Dear all, I would like to draw your attention about the salary of Librarian in Academic Library. I have seen in most of the cases the librarian is being neglected in respect of salary. For example you can see the advertisement In Times of India, Mumbai dated 5th December, 2007. On page XIV, an advertisement is there from ICRI (Institute of Clinical Research India) where they will be paying a lecturer with a minimum Rs 40000 - 60000, whereas the Librarian will be paid Rs 8000 to 12000. All these as gross in month. Even though the year of experience is same for both the case. Why this type of negligence towards the library professionals. What we as a library professional, should do? What way are doing for that? I would like to have some discussion on this matter. Regards, Pradip Das ================================================= Pradip Das, B. Sc. (Chem.), ADIS/DRTC., M.
