Dear Professional colleagues,
This is regarding the opinion of Dr.Gopakumar and Mr.Satish regarding the
felicitations. In this context, I would like to share my opinion. There is
nothing wrong in felicitating the deserving LIS professionals. But,
unfortunately, now it becomes a big joke. Recently, a professional
association, organised a programme and in the invitation it was mentioned
that Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to senior LIS
professionals. I have been requested by the President to accept the
Lifetime Achievement Award. But, I have declined to accept the award as it
should be awarded only to the Senior Professionals who have completed a
long years of service with significant professional contributions. Due to
my preoccupation, I was not able attend the program also as a participant.
But, later I came to know that almost all the LIS professional who attended
the programme were given Lifetime Achievement Award including the President
of the Association. I think this kind of things should be stopped to ensure
respect to the Awards.
Regards,

This may spoil our profession, especially those who have undeserved (no contributions to our profession) get this type of felicitated photo/momento and same may show it to their institutions and getting influenced. This is really a bad practice and must stop. This is only my opinion. Please think about it.
With regards.

Dear professionalsI have seen the request in LIS Forum inviting applications for getting felicitated by the SALIS, Pondicherry. It seems to be an unfair practice to apply and get felicitated. The SALIS should know whom to felicitate and do it accordingly. It is only my opinion.
