Directions to the venue: The Dept. of Biophysics is located behind the AC Tech. where a cluster of Depts belonging to University of Madras is located. The approach to this can be either from Sardar Patel Road – AC Tech main entrance or from Gandhi Mantap Road – when one comes from Kotturpuram, entry on the right side -- little away from the Birla Planetarium towards and before the Cancer Inst. Signal. 

 

About PERI

 

PERI was recently launched by the International Network for Availability of Scientific Publications [INASP]. INASP is headquartered in UK.

 

The mission of INASP is to build a sustainable network of stakeholders that owns and drives access to, generation, validation, and communication of research information.

 

INASP Advises, Connects, Facilitates, Links and Trains organizations form member countries that subscribe to the above mission.

 

PERI is a programme to support capacity building in the research sector in developing and emerging countries by strengthening the production, access and dissemination of information & knowledge.

 

The immediate objectives of the programme are to:

 

           facilitate the acquisition of international and local information and knowledge

           improve access to local research through the improved preparation, production and management of local journals

           provide awareness or training in the use, evaluation and management of electronic information and communication technologies (ICTs)

           support problem-solving of regional and local information access and dissemination challenges.

6.00 p.m. – Welcome address by Dr. R Samyuktha, Dy. Librarian,

                  University of Madras and Vice- President, MALA

 

6.05 p.m. - Introduction of the speaker by Mr. H. R. Mohan,

                  Chairman, Div II, CSI & IEEE CS Madras 

 

6.10 p.m. – Talk and discussion meeting on Programme for the Enhancement

                  of Research Information [PERI]  by Dr. T.V. Gopal                           

 

7.00 p.m. – Q & A

 

7.15 p.m. – Vote of Thanks by Mr. S. Ramasamy, Secretary, CSI Chennai
