From: "Segon, Shafina" <Shafina.Segon@tandfindia.com> Date: Wed, December 3, 2014 4:32 pm Dear Librarian, Welcome to the fourth edition of the Taylor & Francis IGNITE<http://tandf.msgfocus.com/c/14qaeiP6vOuOJUUqsELQFXJi8l> newsletter for librarians in South Asia. As the year draws to a close, we look back at the IGNITE<http://tandf.msgfocus.com/c/14qaemOrRfeaeSTaEwlf1GHUdW> editions gone by, and are very happy with the feedback that we have received from you and the other LIS colleagues. It's your belief and collaboration with us that keeps IGNITE<http://tandf.msgfocus.com/c/14qaeqNNcFXvJQRUQnUDnpGwjx> alive and successful. This quarterly bulletin aims to bring you news on Journals and Online Resources from Taylor & Francis and around the world. http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/explore/ignite-issue4-oct-dec-2014.pdf 2014 has been a year dominated by many new developments for the publishing industry in India. While universities across the country have been grappling with the concept of open access and the feasibility of turning a traditional model on its head while still remaining lucrative, publishers have enabled smaller, bite-sized content for use outside the context of articles and journals, leveraging supporting data, graphs, tables and charts to their advantage as separate entities in their own right. The mobile and smartphone technology became a rage providing knowledge on the move at universities, libraries and institutions. The most significant publishing trend has been the widespread acceptance of reading devices, which has further accelerated the growth of e-Books. In this issue, we bring to you a chit-chat with Dr. Ishwar Goudar, the man responsible for turning around the Mysore University Library into a library of the future with one of the highest usage statistical growths ever recorded. There is news on new acquisitions and research from across the globe and viewpoints on social media and poetry shared with us by library professionals. There are wins, congratulations and celebrations. Since we are hosting our annual roadshow in Bangalore in November, we have picked 11 cafes in Bangalore for librarians to visit and explore. Find out who is the winner of our Librarians' Day special slogan writing competition and what the fantastic work the MyLISA group is doing with children of mahouts. This issue also showcases some straightforward lessons on leadership from our Taylor & Francis MD, Nitasha Devasar as she reminisces about the unexpected twists in the journey of learning for all. Enjoy IGNITE with a cup of steaming hot coffee and we will wait for you to tell us what you think! Best wishes, Happy reading!
